Fanaka Machakos
German Doctors
(GD) will be implementing a project in Athi River beginning March 2020. This
project will comprise a medical clinic (Fanaka MedicalCentre) whose
infrastructure is already in place. Through this facility, GD will extend their
primary health care interventions to the surrounding communities and
particularly those living in slums and informal settlements.

A contribution to improve the
health condition of vulnerable and marginalized people of the project area is
made
Objective/Target
To provide accessible,
quality and sustainable medical services to the marginalized and vulnerable as
well creating an environment for prevention and awareness for healthy living,
making them custodians of their health.
Target Groups/Beneficiaries
a) Vulnerable patients in the slums that seek primary
health care– this group includes patients with NCD´s, children who need
vaccination, women/men and children in general and adolescents.
b) The general population of Athi River, in particular
the people with Chronic diseases, HIV , young adolescents – they are the target
group of a comprehensive health education, health promotion and voluntary
counselling covering topics that are relevant to the community, like family
planning , HIV prevention and prevention of chronic diseases.
